Threads has joined the Fediverse

Threads is now allowing users to optionally share their accounts to the Fediverse in a limited beta. The beta feature is only available for users over 18 in the United States, Canada, or Japan with a public profile.

The feature is still limited, only allowing users on other servers to follow you, share, and like your posts. It doesn’t allow Threads users to follow accounts on other servers, and you can’t see replies to your posts from other servers.

To enable it, go to Account Settings in your profile screen, and if your account is eligible you’ll see a “Fediverse sharing” option. When you select it, you’ll be presented with an explanation of how it works and an option to turn it on.

Users on other Fediverse servers will then be able to see your account and follow it.

Threads will only tell you that a user on a different server liked or reposted it but you can’t see their details.
